History of Ford GT40

In 1965, Henry Ford II turned to Carroll Shelby to help the blue oval beat Ferrari on the world’s
biggest stage – the 24 hours of Le Mans. And win they did, Ford and Shelby combined for a 1-2-
3 sweep of the 1966 race and the overall « W » for the four straight years (1966-1969).
In honour to that historic win, Shelby American built a limited run of (20) 50th Anniversary
Shelby GT40 mkII cars to honour this historic racing platform.
These are continuation cars built around the original style steel monocoque unibody chassis
and fully independent suspension. There is also used unequal length A- arms. Almost 90 % of
the parts are interchangeable with the original race car.
The car also stays true to the original GT40 mkII’s dimensions (163 inches long and 40 inches
high) with the same 2×10-gallon fuel tanks.
Even the cockpit stays true to the original with Smith style gauges and silver riveted seats.
Wheels are original Halibrand style pin drive 15″.
Other than the introduction of adding the creature comfort of air condition, with big block 427
engine installed, this car looks, sounds and feels like it just stepped out of Parc Ferme.

My Driving

Car had few problems that we solved to be able to drive it on the street with other
traffic/traffic light/ speed pumps.
First was thermostat that opened in temperature of 93 Celsius. Car was overheating.
Now there is correct one.
Also air filter was not designed for 8.6L engine.
That was replaced into as big as possible.
Then I built a reverse camera with wide angle. It is hidden on the roof and screen is back mirror
inside car. When you turn on ignition you see behind.
Spark wires were changed also and done some heat protection same time.
Oil collector assembled.
PPF protection film was put in some critical points.
Under the car we built strong aluminium shield to protect the engine.
After these and test drives car is perfect.
I have drove it mostly on the streets.
One big road trip into Sweden and Norway for 2 weeks drive with no trailer.
It was pictured in a cover of a Amcar Magazine, Norway.
Many car events in Finland and some car shows.
3 track days and 1 big track event in Spa/Belgium.
Car has some markings from the speed pumps under the front but that just shows driving and
no garage queen life.
Car is ready for concours green gras as also to eat the tarmac in the race track.
Where ever you go you are never alone with this beauty.
Car comes with a Cover King carcover and extra set of new tires.

Car won Best of the Show title in American Car Show, Helsinki 4/2025.

Contact for details and book a test drive if winter has not yet come to Finland. Cost of visit will be taken off the final price.
